I think it would probably work if you have short hair, especially since it is such a mild cleanser I don’t think there would be any ill effects. However, if you have some length in your hair, I think shampoo’s contain ingredients that Cetaphil does not that are beneficial to your hair and also your scalp. Perhaps look for a very gentle shampoo, or perhaps there is even a shampoo out there for scalp acne sufferers. I had some hairline acne myself, and I switched to a no bells & whistles shampoo like head & shoulders, and since I thought maybe the hairline acne I was getting was just from overall irritation in there area from shampooing/facial cleansing, I went with the sensitive care head & shoulders which has aloe, and moisturizers in it. It is also dye & hypoallergenic. I know you might be thinking, why would I need moisture in my shampoo if oil is the problem I think is leading to my hairline acne, and my answer to that would be perhaps the area is getting too dry (probably not visibly flaky) from a shampoo or facial cleanser you may be using so the oil (sebaceous) glans are working overtime producing oil, which is leading to clogged pores, and this hairline acne.
