Because we live in White Country. We as Black Americans have had no choice but to challenge the national standard of beauty for our own self esteem. Places like Europe and African nations of course have less issues with understanding different forms of beauty because they are more worldly.

However, we as Black Americans have had to find the beauty within ourselves in the US. We certainly wont see it reflected in media. As far as the White standard goes, most ppl are just sheep and believe beauty is whatever media tells them.

its all about how they are raised. I have naturally blonde hair, however was blessed with ample hips and bottom. I LOVE my shape and wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Because they are different culturally. To be honest you are being biased. Not all white women are concerned with breast implants or the desire to be a size 6 or less. In addition, not all black women are concerned with their hair and nails. You are stereotyping. That is inappropriate! What does it matter what either race does to beautify themselves as long as they are taking care of themselves and not running around here dirty and stinky….? You have "plain Jane’s" of all races. You have high maintenance women of all races!! Use your damn brain!

Black women and white women do look different. white women have pale skin straight or loose curled hair, lighter coloured eyes, straighter noses, thinner lips, narrow built bodies GENERALLY. so of course their standard of beauty will be defined by this.
the only difference between black and white really is the skin tone. black women can have hair, eye colour, nose width, in all the extremes…thin wide, straight kinky, dark light. so the black beauty standard doesn’t really exist. just be natural.

Black women are much more beautiful than white women. Black women have natural big breasts, white women try to match up with breast in-plants.
Black women have lips , white women have thin to no lips and try to match up by getting bigger fuller lips through injections and surgery.
Black women have great behinds, white women have tried to match up by looking practically naked to attract attention
Black women have hair that can be braided,straighten,coloured, coiled, twisted which ever way possible. White women have just one boring hair style and try to match up with wigs,colors and the media.
Black is beauty and Black men are hooooot! Even the bible says tall, dark and handsome not tall, pale and handsome.

because white girls tend to see the girls that are on the magazines that thin and frail and they think thats what they need to look like….Black women have a more grasp on what you should look like rather then be someone your not. as for me, my motto is I am who I am, you can take it or leave it.
