I am a member of hair club for men (wigs, toupee, etc).

If a new "friend" asks me in front of several others if I am bald, how should I respond?

My basic premises are: this is personal; this is humiliating; this is "low" tactic.

Some options I considered:

1. Accept it eventhough I am hurt, offended, and want to slap the person.

2. Accept it and inform the person that I am hurt and offended and that he/she should put himself/herself in my situation. Ask if he/she would ask that same question publicly if a person has breast implant or penile implant.

3. Tell the person that he/she is inappropriate, uncultivated, improper, vicious, etc (give me some more vocabs). That is attack a little.

4. Tell the person that he/she is "whatever" that is appropriate to that person (fat, stupid, short, ugly, etc). That is fire for fire.

5. Deny it and see how long I can get away with it.

6. Joke about it somehow?

So I don’t like my hair very much. Blah. I still take care of it with my shampoos, and it’s not that I HATE my hair, it’s just I don’t like how it fits with my look. I’ve tried styling it, having it styled; my hair does not fit my face. I try, but whatever. I’m really into wigs.

Before you comment on me WANTING to wear a wig, it’s not bad if it’s realistic. Also, people wear padded bras? People wear coloured contacts? People do spray-on tans? I’m not wanting to do it for the sake of looking good for others; I’m doing it for ME. I want to look a certain way, that would make me happy. Confidence is good, yes? :)

So anyways. I don’t care what anyone says, I’m buying one top-quality wig (seriously. Best there is *u* http://cyperous.com/english/index.html) and I’ll stick to it.

I just have one question. And I swear this is the last one, about hair, I promise <333

How do I tell someone it’s a wig? I don’t want to make a joke out of it, though I don’t really care. If they ask, I will flat-out tell them, but how? Should I just say what I said up there? And one more thing. If someone, let’s say an enemy at school, tries to/succeeds in pulling it off. What would you do? Keep calm and make a joke about it? It would be feeding right into them if I got angry, huh?

I lied. One last thing. I want to wear the wig for personal-appearance-confidence only; if I’m doing a sport or something, should I take it off, or treat the wig like real hair and pull it up?

Thanks to the others who helped me before on past two questions, already chose best answer o:

And one more thing? You’re free to post your opinions here, but no, "OMFG U R WARING A WIG HOW CAN U LIV WITH URSELF????///////" Because, really? How fncked up are you? Not nearly enough as me, but still….;]

And think about what I wrote earlier, calling someone who wears a wig a fake, tell that to the people who ACTUALLY destroy their bodies, hormonal pills to make their c-ck bigger or getting implants; I’m doing this for me, and that’s all that matters. Everyone else, BLAM, see ya next tuesdays!
Morgan and Silver, thank you two so much. Both of your answers made me smile, Silver’s yours made me giggle; Morgan, I like the idea of putting it on someone and throwing it at people. I’d feel much more confident putting a thick, black wig on my Lebanese male friend XD

Ok why do ppl say all black women wear weave, i wear extensions sometimes and I’m not black. Why is ok for me? Also why are silicon implants ok, but hair additions aren’t? Isn’t that kind of stupid? Women and men have been wearing wigs, weaves since the beginning of time. But to put a foreign object inside your body is stupid.

How do you feel about women who get???

1. Breast Implants?
2. Butt implants?
3. Dying hair?
4. Wearing wigs like Jessica Simpson, JLO and Beyonce to change your looks for fun?

For those who have tried/use any of these things, what are your thoughts on…
- the Non-Surgical Bio-Matrix Hair Replacement System
- Wigs
- Over the counter topical treatments
- Steroid injections

I have tried the topical treatments and injections, which don’t work for me. I am currently looking at the non-surgical bio-matrix replacement system because wigs would not work too well for me since I spend a lot of my time doing sports and in the ocean..
Also, how are you coping with it? My hair has recently started to get worse over the past couple of weeks and I have become a hermit not going out in public anymore.

Also, don’t tell me those stupid things like "you are beautiful no matter what!" or "embrace who you are and don’t be afraid!" I’m not retarded. I am a human being with a self-esteem and alopecia is a reality and I can’t change my confidence and view just over night like that.

I was hospitalized for two months and on extreme meds to stay alive. It is still falling out.I have tried Nioxin, but it hasn’t helped that much.I am hoping there is a remedy other than wigs, extensions,or implants. HELP!

I am thinking about some specialized wig shops or hair replacement clinics, I just need to replace the fixing tape.. I know that this topic is strange, but I’ve heard that there is a lot of shops with wigs and toupees in London :)

Do you think a form of lying is:

women_____________men
wearing high heels____cowboy boots
makeup_____________hair dye
wigs/fake hair________hair implants
liposuction___________tummy tuck
fake fingernails_______manicure
push up bra_________sock in pants
fake cell phone call___fake bank statement
teeth whitening______teeth whitening
adult diaper_________viagara

Hey all. I’m nineteen years old and I have male-pattern baldness. The crown of my head is slowly losing hair, and I have a visible "bald patch." I’m not too fond of the surgical methods, because they leave scars and seem to be a hassle. I’ve tried stuff like Nioxin and Rogaine, but it’s smelly and seems to do little. I’ve heard Hair Club for men are a bunch of scamming liars, so I’m avoiding them. Thanks in advance!
Any wigs or hairpieces anyone would recommend?

I am a bald guy & I have been shaving my head twice a week for a while. However , I am getting bored of my look, can you suggest any hair styles for baldies?

Hair implants & wigs r out of the question

Is there any women out there that have had hair replacement or have used a hair regrowth system due to thinning or already thinned hair? What did you do? Did it work? Do you have to continuously use it? Men can answer too. I am a 38 year old female who has always had thin hair due to having seizures when I was younger. The tests and the medications caused my hair to thin. I haven’t had a seizure since I was 10 and am no longer on medicine, however, my hair has never regrown. I am very self conscious about it. I want to try new styles and I don’t want to feel like everyone is looking at my scalp ya know? any advice??? and please just real answers or advice. thanks
never considered wigs because I am afraid they won’t stay put as I like to be active. How about hair extentions or weaves?

i have recently been switched to another chemo drug and after years of treatment, i think this one will do the job of completely obliterating most or all the hair on my head.

since i don’t want to live the rest of my life bald, i’ve been reading about medical hair replacement:
http://www.mayoclinic.org/hair-loss/index.html

my question is, has anyone else gone through the same or can offer constructive advice on what steps i can take? approx. cost comparison re. each type of treatment and which one seems to work the best w/ the most minimal bothersome effects?

only serious answers, please. after going through bald again, hair again – i can’t take any more yo-yoing and being bald forever using bothersome wigs and hats are no longer a viable option.

thank you.

Other than traditional wigs, what are some non-surgical solutions for hair replacement for wome?

This is for my English paper, in which I am comparing old and modern techniques people used to treat cosmetic issues.

I heard women back then (like in the 1970s) used wigs and color hair spray to conceal bald spots, but I NEED AN ONLINE SOURCE to cite.

Thanks in advance!
