I got a boob job 2 months ago. ive always had thick looong dark hair. im only 30.
my hair was mid back in length. 2 weeks ago i saw a bald spot. now i have like 7 large bald patches. my hair has fallen off rapidly and in clumps. went to thyroid dr and regular dr. both did separate blood work. all hormone levels are normal. there is no reason for this. and its not stress. i just had a boob job. i was on cloud 9. i had to cut 5 inches off to take the weight off my hair and try to save as much as i can but i don’t know what else to do. i have new growth coming back but it is growing slower then its fallen. has anyone had any similar reactions after a boob job? and i think i may have gotten knocked up last week so im not sure what meds to take.
i dont remember reading massive hair loss as a side effect.. this was silicone gummybear implants. i cant think of anything else that would cause rapid hair loss other then that at this point.. any suggestions, comments or ideas?

I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. I’ve been missing my period for months, I’ve been gaining weight even though i don’t eat much, tried dieting and didn’t lose any. I sleep 12 hours a day. I’m tired all the time and I’m losing my hair. I went to the doctor and the only thing she did is examine my belly by her hands and gave me a medicine called cyclo-progynova it’s a hormone replacement therapy I believe. Don’t you think she should have ran me some blood tests to make sure I’m fine? Can I ask her?
oh and she only looked at my neck (my thyroid gland?) just looked at them, can she know for sure that I don’t have a problem by just looking?

I have been on thyroid replacement therapy since age 12 but still have hypersensitivity to cold, thin brittle nails and hair, dry skin and a really tough time losing weight? It seems as though the T4 is there but is not being utilized properly by the body. Im tired of being tired. Can Hashimotos Thyroiditis cause that?

Hair loss?

I don’t have any bald spots or anything but I’ve been losing a LOT of hair lately, probably from combination stress and thyroid disease. I’ve just noticed that it falls out in massive proportions and it’s thinned out quite a bit. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any good hair restoration products that really work. Please let me know of your experiences and recommendations. All answers are greatly appreciated.

I have hypo-thyroid, I had an aortic valve replacement(St. Jude Metal) and contacted C-diff(a nasty hospital disease caused by too many anti-biotics) Yes, I am glad to be alive but my hair broke off at the scalp and as my daughter said I looked like a Chemo patient. It is coming back but darn its been a year and I want my hair back. Incidentally, my hair was gray when it fell out and what has come back is dark again – how about that!!??

I take levothyroxine, 50mcg, once a day. I have taken it since 2009 (around August) and the hair loss started about 3 months ago (around June or July). It is coming out rapidly, filling up my brush almost daily and it just keeps coming. My thyroid levels are good. I also have Hashimoto’s but my antibody levels are doing okay.

I thought it might be a side effect of the drug, but everything says that would have started around when I started taking the drug and would be temporary. I now have an almost bald spot above my temple, and who knows where else there might be more.

I have tried to take good care of my hair, I take vitamins, I use good conditioner, I only use a wide tooth comb to brush it almost all of the time, I rarely straighten it, I only dye it about 2x a year max if at all, I don’t over wash it, I don’t use hair ties often and when I do I don’t pull my hair tight or use ones with metal pieces. My stylist told me everything I needed to do to help it be healthy and grow longer (preventing breakage) and I have been doing that for over 2 years. My hair was very healthy, and now, even though it still seems healthy, it is falling out at a frightening pace.

I am 24 years old, female, and under no more stress than I have been my whole life. I have no insurance and can’t see a doctor about it at the moment (money is tight, but has been for years, so nothing new for stress there). I don’t have kids.

The only major change in my life is I started on a slightly higher dose birth control (I was on the lowest does available and having breakthrough bleeding, but I’m still on a low dose pill) about 3 months ago. This is the only correlating event and I was told this couldn’t be the cause.

I have no idea why all of a sudden I started losing my hair. Any help? And please don’t just suggest I see a doctor, I can’t afford it. I need some kind of direction. Thanks.
Oh, and my iron levels are great.

I was under the impression that being hypothyroid made your hair weak and that medicine would make it grow stronger and faster. Well I suffer from a very mild case of hypothyroidism. My hair was very thick and pretty even while having hypo symptoms. Now all of a sudden, a few months after taking levoxyl and natural thyroid extract, my hair is falling out! The doctor has yet to call me back, what do I do? I am freaked out. I have continued to gain weight and my thyroid is HUGE. I am not sure if I am perhaps on too high a dose or too low a dose of medicine.

My daughter is 22 and is losing her hair. We think it has to do with turners and hormones. Her thyroid is fine, with medication. I would really like to chat with an adult turner syndrome women.

My friend is worried about hair loss lately. She’s on medications for her thyroid, which might be a partial culprit, but I think she needs better nutrition. I know B vitamins are good for hair loss. Anything else? I was thinking prenatal vitamins, too. My hair was super thick when I was on those!

Hair loss?

I have been losing my hair for almost 3 years now. I’m only 23 years old and there is no history of women in my family losing their hair. I have been to several doctors including a dermatologist and an endocronologist, for my scalp and possible thyroid issues. However all my tests came back negative. I have been told that it may be cause by stress, but I’m not stressed. I did suffer from depression at the start of the hair loss, but that is no longer the case. I don’t take any medication with the exception of tylenol every once in a while for a headache and vitamins. But my hair continues to fall out drastically. I have to clean my drain out everyday because of it and I am constantly looking for some sort of shampoo or conditioner to help. Can anyone help me?

I have been through thyroid cancer three times. I am doing fine right now. But, my hair has become thin. I am taking the proper medicine everyday. I haven’t even gone through menapause yet. ( I know some women go through it early.)

Is there any vitamin or anything I can do to try to get at least some of my hair back? I know my hair loss must be a hormonal thing.

Why hasn’t thyroid replacement treatment stopped hair loss? Any treatment suggestions?

Has anyone tried Trichup Hair Oil? Has it worked?
I am 32, of Indian origin and losing hair in bunches. Bloodwork and Thyroid is all okay.
Any suggestions?

I have been experiencing some extreme hair loss for many months now and I’ve gone to get blood work which has turned out pretty okay (very mild iron dificiency), thyroid is good, so are hormones etc. My hair has aways fallen out easily since I was little and it almost seems that my hair aside from being fine and thin comes off from the roots (scalp). Could it be that there’s a vitamin or mineral dificiency in me? If so, what kind and how can I take care of it? I’m concerned because I’ve never lost so much hair as I have now. I don’t feel like I’m stressed, no trauma so what is it? Haven’t given birth, no surgery etc. I’m actually now going to cut my hair shorter to hopefully help stop the hair loss but how can I make my hair stronger so it doesn’t fall off my scalp so easily?
My doctor just checked the testosterone level and that’s is okay too.

My mum has got over active thyroid, and one of the effects of this, is hair loss. She’s not too happy about this, and can do with whatever help and advice she can get. Are there any home remedies/medicines/cures to stop hair loss. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks!
