There’s a guy out there in CA selling a hair restoration "serum" and shampoo (expensive!) called Restoration Hair.

Does anyone have any experience with this stuff, or is it snake oil?

For a couple hours now, I’ve been surfing the web, looking for a suitable product to purchase for my boyfriend. He’s in his early 20’s, and his hair is thinning/balding. It’s hereditary. He wants to find something to help, and I’m looking for the right product for him.
I started off with researching Rogaine, but I’m hearing about some nasty side effects, and plus, it’s a life-long commitment. Then I came across Propecia, and there’s no way in hell I’m letting him use that stuff, considering that it can have sexual side effects. It’s just not worth it.
I saw another product, called Provillus, and it seemed to be good. But it’s not FDA approved, and it’s also pills, not cream, and I don’t know how I feel about him taking something orally. It makes me nervous.
Lastly, I looked up Shampoo’s, to see if I could find any luck there. I found Nioxin. Once again, it seems ok, and I don’t see any side effects. But it’s so hard to trust these products.
Ergo, I figured that I’d ask actual people if they have any suggestions, or if they could share their stories and what worked for them. Tell me anything that worked for you, and any side effects it had. Whether it be cream, pills, shampoo, etc. I’d really, really appreciate it.

Hi! I’m 28 yrs old, i’m not completly bold but I can see that my hair is going slowly slowly. I’m trying at the moment the hair product calls schwarskpohf active m(if I spell right) but it doesn’t seem it ’s working after using 2 months, in fact my hair is gone thiner.. I heard abouth the tablets calls "PROVILLUS" it seems to be no 1 on costumer reviews but I can not see any costumer who write actually! Is there any other products and do they work or provillus work? never tried that and when I see tablets, I’m afraid of the side effects. scared to order one and waste money and time and +side effects. has anybody there also use swarskoph active m shampoo and tonic? I hate losing my hair. thinning out quite a lot on the front and receding a bit as well. Rogaine not made to help with receding hairline from the front.. so it’s a no-go. Trying Nioxin shampoo right now.

Ok so I’m 18 years old and i’ve been losing my hair since i was like 15. I go to College and I play Rhythm guitar and am lead vocalist in my band and i see alot of people. i have never seen anyone my age with as much hairloss as i have. My friends that have seriously asked me if i went on kemo since in less then a year my hairline has jumped a Full Inch and a half from a scar in the middle of my forehead where it used to be.

I realize i will bald early and that will be my life but come on i want to at least make it to 20. Anyway I’ve seen MDs and they just tell me its natural and i was perscribed Propecia when i was 16! Tragically a combo of Rogaine and Propecia did nothing for me and Propecia is far too expensive, 100 bucks a month ooo.

i have a really dry scalp and it itches badly if i try to wear hats, i shed hair like crazy.

I just want some help. i want a plan of action i dunno something. i have never been carded for cigarettes even when i was 16 or anywhere else (including clubs and bars) girls always think im older then i am which isnt always bad but when i tell people im 18 theyre shocked.

i want to cling to my hair for a few more years please if anyone knows anything let me know.

Ive been using the Shampoo Nyzoral for months with no help with the scalp dryness so ive been rubbing olive oil on my head the past few nights. also ive tried Nioxin shampoos of all strength, lots of vitamins and this hair stuff called provillus that was bogus and a few other things.

if you read all this at all i really appreciate it. this is like a semi rant.

i am only 17 and all my hairs are about to fall off help. which shampoo do you think is the bes to treat hair loss. is it Nisim or Provillus or Procerin or something else?

If it doesnt work is there anything that will work because i have tried rogaine for woman this other type of shampoo called nioxin i think and other stuff i cant remember.

I am 35 year old male and loosing hair since last 5-6 years. Initially I did not do anything for first one year. Then I tried all kinds of shampoo rogain and all. But I recently noticed my barber at salon refused to cut the hair at scalp saying, I look bald if he cuts them.

So I am considering get my hair medically restored. Can anybody give me pro and cons of this? And if anybody had good experience, can you please share with community?

I have been losing my hair for almost 3 years now. I’m only 23 years old and there is no history of women in my family losing their hair. I have been to several doctors including a dermatologist and an endocronologist, for my scalp and possible thyroid issues. However all my tests came back negative. I have been told that it may be cause by stress, but I’m not stressed. I did suffer from depression at the start of the hair loss, but that is no longer the case. I don’t take any medication with the exception of tylenol every once in a while for a headache and vitamins. But my hair continues to fall out drastically. I have to clean my drain out everyday because of it and I am constantly looking for some sort of shampoo or conditioner to help. Can anyone help me?

My little sister is having some trouble with hair loss and my mom and I are starting to get worried. She’s been losing hair where her bangs are and it seems like it thinning. She has dandruff but she uses shampoo for it, and from what I hear she says it helps the itch and it’s not noticeable that she has dandruff. She used a full set of healthy hair and now it seems as if all that is thinning. Does anyone know of any vitamins for hair loss that would be appropriate for her age and he scalp condition.

When I shampoo my hair loads of loose hair comes off, i do not have dandruff or nits!!! Is it to do with the shampoo that use? Please help me!!!

I m a man in his mid-20s, with thick hair. I have lately observed in my shower that i have a lot of hair fall off, when i shampoo. I have counted this, and this is atleast 30 stands of hair. At other times, when I play with my hair, unconciously, i seem to pull another 10 strands of hairs or more. This has never happened to me, so far. I m used to having stronger hair. I m worried that i m going to go bald, like my friends in their mid-20s. Btw, I m on depakote 250 mg, which is a very low dose, compared to 1250 mgs that is normally prescribed. What complicates the issue is that i have a maternal grandfather, which is bald. However, both my parents, including my mom, have heathy hair. For more information, my mom’s sister also has heathy hair. Is this something to worry about? Should i cut my hair short? Will it solve the problem? Or should I try a good shampoo?

I’ve been using shampoos that are quite creamy to give moisture to your hair for a few months now. Then I realize that I’ve been having a sticky residue of the shampoo stuck on my hair that takes ages to wash off. And now, its causing hair loss and hence some baldness on my head. I was wondering if any of you knew anything about the shampoo selsun blue….I used it almost a year ago and I lost a large amount of hair after using it. I waited to see if it would grow back and it never did. I went on the selsun blue website and tried contacting them but their is no contact number. Does anyone know about the ingrediant Selenium Sulfide and if it causes permanent hair loss?

I use a swimming cap but the water still seeps in. What about the shampoo? Swimming regularly also means applying shampoo to the hair regularly. Could these both be a cause for hair loss?

I’m 22. My hair line is gradually receding. I get really bad dandruff in the fall/winter, and an extremely oily scalp in the spring/summer (possibly DHT build-up). My hair doesn’t grow like it used to. What’s a good DHT inhibitor and regrowth shampoo?

I am only in my twenties, but I am beginning to lose my hair due to coloring, straightening, and stress. What is the best shampoo/conditioning system to use? I’ve heard Nioxin works well. Are there any other options?

I’m looking for a good shampoo that will make my hair more voluminous and thicken the hairs that are in my head already. I’m not looking for any shampoos that contain hair-loss inhibiting or hair regrowth drugs… just something that will make the hair thicker and stronger.

Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks for the tips, Miissa. However, everything I’ve seen says that henna will also color your hair. I don’t want this.
