Ok, so I just returned my Chi flat iron, because frankly it sucks. IT didnt get hot enough and it didnt straighten my normal slightly wavy hair. Also it felt soo cheap. Well, i was at the mall today, and this guy from the kioski was trying to sell me this straightener called the AMIKA flat iron that retailed 250 or something like that. It worked really well, and straightened great, but i noticed that the heat only went up to 200 degrees. IT got really hot when i tried it on my head, but that was a shocker because the CHI says it goes up to 370, and it wasnt even as hot as the amika. Well, anyway, the guy said i could have the iron for 100 bucks with a shine serum and a hot iron stand for free. I only paid 75 for my chi, and I didnt really want to pay more than that for its replacement, but i would if it was worth it…………….

SO finally my question is, does anyone have the Amika flat iron? If so, how satisfied are u? Oh and How much did they sell it to you for? THANKS!
thanks to those who were actually helpful. And i didnt buy a knockoff chi, I know that for a fact….So anyway, I might go back and get the amika! thanks everyone!

I have heard that when straightening your hair you should put on a heat serum to protect your hair from falling out. Instead of putting heat serum can hair gel (garnier fructis strong wel gel) be a substitute?

..and since my hair is thick and layered by using the straightener, will it thin out my hair (which I want to do)?

There’s a guy out there in CA selling a hair restoration "serum" and shampoo (expensive!) called Restoration Hair.

Does anyone have any experience with this stuff, or is it snake oil?

I’m still young but my hair falls a lot, I get pretty concern about it, but I really don’t know how to stop it. I’ve tried hair tonic, serum and all those stuff, but it still falls. Anybody can help ?

I’m currently using Tresemme (Moisture for dry/damaged hair) but I also have Tea Tree shampoo, but my mom said you should use a gentle shampoo, like baby shampoo. Any good recommendations?
Oh and PS, the treatment consists of pills and a topical "serum".
