I have had hair replacement surgery: 6 months ago. I am prescribed to take finasteride/propecia for baldness by my hair replacement physician. However, I bought it online through an international pharmacy based at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories based in India. I looked them up on the Internet and it looks safe. (I read the Wikipedia article on the company) I notice that when I take the drug my hair looks thicker and fuller. I really hate to give it up.

I bought the 5 mg finasteride. However, I don’t take the full pill. I take very miniscule part of the tablet. I notice that after I take the drug, I have a very increased heart rate (really fast). I am little unsure if thinking about side effects of the drug makes me nervous.

I’ve taken the pill for weeks and nothing has happened, but wonder if it safe for me to continue to take this drug. Does anyone have any experiences about it?

I’ve been taking propecia and provillus pills for about a year and half now and they seem to be preventing it a bit, but I’m still losing hair. I wash my hair with Hair & Shoulders antidandruff once a day. I eat healthly, do exercise twice a week. I smoke maybe 3 cigs a day though. Any advice?

My husband is very sensitive to losing his hair. It’s been going on for years and he’s tried the hair club, rogaine and propecia without results.
He just received a severance package and would like to try hair restoration (surgery). This is something he’s always wanted and now that he has the money he’s going for it. I’m trying to be supportive but, really I don’t feel that this is the time since he is out of work. The procedure will cost approx 10K. I’m worried about savings since he is out of work. We have some but, not much. He wants it so bad he is taking 10K out of his 401K when he rolls it over to the IRA to replace the severance we now have in savings. I’ve mentioned this to a few female friends and they bashed him for being irresponsible and selfish. I’d like to get some guy opinions. I’d like to add that we have debt too that this severance should be applied to.
I told him that I fell in love with him balding, I will love him no matter what.
His brother shaved his head when I suggested he do that he freaked. Like I said very sensitive. He’s 42.

I’m 21 now and im starting to lose hair on the frontal and top part of my head. Its getting really thin and i can see the skin underneath when i look in a mirror under a light. Right now i can cover it alittle with the hair thats there, but i want to at least try a hairloss product now, than wait and lose all my hair. I dont think i can use rogaine cause it says its not for the frontal region. Now about Propecia i heard it works well, does it work on the front and top part of my head or will it only do the crown. I heard u need a presciption to get Propecia. Hair Restoration is also out of the ques. cause i cant afford it right now. Also i have no benefits at my age cause i only work a partime job so no insurance for a doctor.
How much does a visit cost and what type of doctor do you need to see to get Propecia?
Ive seen the side effects.

I already have short hair and shaving it off is outta the question cause the shape of my head and face is oval so it wont look right bald.

I have been taking Rogaine for the last 6 years but it seems to have stop working for me. I am currently trying all the Nioxin products from the vitamins to the follicule booster. I having been really depressed the past few months because my hair loss and I need some feedback on others who have expierenced the same thing. I have been told from a hair restoration specialist that the best option for me is to start taking Propecia (which I’m afraid of the side effects), and start a laser treatment twice a week for 6 months. What other alternatives should I try?

I went to see a hair restoration doc one time who used a densitometer to measure the density of my hairs and assured me that I exhibited very early signs of hair thinning and some loss. He put me on propecia but the question is…the derm/trichologist/physians that I have seen have never heard of densitometry, one derm knew but he told me that it is only an art and is not to be completely trusted. He assured me that we all lose hair density as we grow older and just because we lose some hair density and some miniaturization but it does not mean we should take propecia especially since he thought my hair density was normal and I had a full head of thick hair still. He felt I should take it when I exhibit observable loss. It seems these derms don’t really buy into the art of hair densitometry. Have you ever heard of this densitometer/densitometry? Would you trust it or should I just follow the derm’s advice. I’m 26 and I still have a full head of hair just a little thin on the sides
btw…both my grandfathers (mom/dad’s side) had hair…my father thinned and had hair loss starting at age 46, his little brother went bald before his 20’s.

Hi. My husband was prescribed Propecia by a "Doctor" at Bosley (hair restoration company). We are afraid it will effect our pregnancy planning this year. Anyone know anything? Thanks so much and Merrry Christmas!

a near bald patch on top..considering buying spray on hair replacement…short term to lessen visibilty of scalp…but have heard that minoxidil, propecia or dutaseride can promote some regrowth? I’d be happy with just a little regrowth

If so where could I purchase such safely?

Thanks
A

I’m balding. =( Does anybody know of something that can stop it? Does hair transplants really work? What about propecia and rogaine? Or Provillus and Advecia? Help!!!

Recently, I’ve been curious about hair loss, for a couple of years I’ve had a very tiny recession but still have a full head of hair throughout. I went to see this hair restoration doctor in NYC, well-known in the field and provided free consultation but I felt rushed through it, he put some device called the densitometer on me, a device that none of the dermatologists or other hair specialists knew about and said that I exhibited very early signs of genetic hair loss.I told him my father started losing hair and thinning at 46 (56 now) so he immediately prescribed Propecia, he rushed me through the whole consultation and I didnt really get my questions answered well (a lot of I dunno). The whole experience made me unsure whether if I should trust him and spend the /mo on Propecia for life if right now I have a full head of hair.I saw a derm and a trichologist and he thought it’s not serious at the moment but if i start to exhibit signs then take it or take it to protect it.
I told the hair doc what my derm/trichologist thought…he got angry and told me to go back to see him, he thought maybe he did rush me through and he’d like to do this thoroughly this time around. The fact he wasn’t like this the first time doesn’t make me want to trust him. What do you think?

For a couple hours now, I’ve been surfing the web, looking for a suitable product to purchase for my boyfriend. He’s in his early 20’s, and his hair is thinning/balding. It’s hereditary. He wants to find something to help, and I’m looking for the right product for him.
I started off with researching Rogaine, but I’m hearing about some nasty side effects, and plus, it’s a life-long commitment. Then I came across Propecia, and there’s no way in hell I’m letting him use that stuff, considering that it can have sexual side effects. It’s just not worth it.
I saw another product, called Provillus, and it seemed to be good. But it’s not FDA approved, and it’s also pills, not cream, and I don’t know how I feel about him taking something orally. It makes me nervous.
Lastly, I looked up Shampoo’s, to see if I could find any luck there. I found Nioxin. Once again, it seems ok, and I don’t see any side effects. But it’s so hard to trust these products.
Ergo, I figured that I’d ask actual people if they have any suggestions, or if they could share their stories and what worked for them. Tell me anything that worked for you, and any side effects it had. Whether it be cream, pills, shampoo, etc. I’d really, really appreciate it.

26 and have all my hair but I know that hair loss runs on my dad’s side of the family. I may have thinned a little on the sides and receded a tiny bit.(but still Norwood 1) Want to protect my hair from future loss but would rather try and stay away from Propecia cuz its costly and may have to take it for life. The fact that I have my hair now at age 26, it may not be the best idea for my health. Saw a well-known hair restoration surgeon who told me that I had extremely early symptoms of thinning (from the fact that I told him my father/uncle had hair loss) and that I should take propecia right away. I found it hard to believe so I went to the derms who agreed that I receded a little but it was not serious. There was no need to be aggressive with medication and that I may be fine for the next 20-30 years. They advised that I take it if i started showing noticeable signs.Who should I trust, derms or the hair doc?
I believe that dermatologists would know just as much about the basics of hair loss as a hair restoration surgeon. The only way hair restorations surgeons are more credible is if you were looking for hair transplants.

Ok so I’m 18 years old and i’ve been losing my hair since i was like 15. I go to College and I play Rhythm guitar and am lead vocalist in my band and i see alot of people. i have never seen anyone my age with as much hairloss as i have. My friends that have seriously asked me if i went on kemo since in less then a year my hairline has jumped a Full Inch and a half from a scar in the middle of my forehead where it used to be.

I realize i will bald early and that will be my life but come on i want to at least make it to 20. Anyway I’ve seen MDs and they just tell me its natural and i was perscribed Propecia when i was 16! Tragically a combo of Rogaine and Propecia did nothing for me and Propecia is far too expensive, 100 bucks a month ooo.

i have a really dry scalp and it itches badly if i try to wear hats, i shed hair like crazy.

I just want some help. i want a plan of action i dunno something. i have never been carded for cigarettes even when i was 16 or anywhere else (including clubs and bars) girls always think im older then i am which isnt always bad but when i tell people im 18 theyre shocked.

i want to cling to my hair for a few more years please if anyone knows anything let me know.

These photos are quite flattering for some reason the combo of crappy webcam and low light makes it look like i have very full hair.

Ive been using the Shampoo Nyzoral for months with no help with the scalp dryness so ive been rubbing olive oil on my head the past few nights. also ive tried Nioxin shampoos of all strength, lots of vitamins and this hair stuff called provillus that was bogus and a few other things.

if you read all this at all i really appreciate it. this is like a semi rant.

I have recently just bought Propecia. I was not aware that it would not be safe to continue having sex with my partner while on this drug for the risk of possibly getting pregnant and that child having birth defects.

Within Procerin and Provillus, there is a main ingredient called "Saw Palmetto". My question has to do with either of these products and/or that specific ingredient. Will I run into the same problem regarding birth defects with these products or any product containing Saw Palmetto?? If I take Propecia or any of these supplements, how quickly will the drug be out of my system so that I could procreate without the worry of causing birth defects? All help is greatly appreciated!

I’ve heard that these days, baldness is optional. I’m 20 years old and am noticing the starting of baldness on my head. I wanna start combating it NOW, so I don’t lose my g/f, and if I do lose my g/f, then I don’t wanna be unsuccessful with women.

Any information on stuff that actually works – like the HairMax Laser Comb, Hair transplants, Rogaine, Propecia, etc?

Hi,i’m 28,i’ve been suffering from hair loss since 10 years ago and i’ve been using minoxidil, but recently my hair loss has gone worse,i thught i must shift to a better medicine, and i thought maybe revivogen is good.

if you have used this medicine please tell me about your results because honestly i don’t need and don’t want to make my hair loss even worse with a snake oil kind of drug,i also would be really grateful to know your results with other hair loss treatments(velform, pro texan, propecia,…).in your comments please mention your sex and age.
i already thank you very much for sharing your experience and thank you for helping.

Propecia is the only FDA approved pill for hair loss treatment, but there are a lot of side effects associated with it. Any one who have used propecia, please give your comments on its effectiveness and side effects.

I don’t have anyone in my family who lost their hair this early. I’m 20, and the hair loss started at 17, after a battle with anorexia. Now, it won’t grow as fast as it did, and there are many thin places. I took Propecia for a while, but stopped last December because I didn’t see any new growth. Could it be an immune system problem, or some kind of psoriasis? (sp)

Right now I am taking proscar pills split into four to save money on treating with propecia pills. What treatment have you tried and which are best…according to who. Thanks

I would like to know of any next generation hair loss products especially new pills. I know that propecia and regaine (minoxydil) have achieved some positive results, but both are rather old, so is there any new pill?!

thank you
