I wondered this even more after seeing an advertisement for the "booty pop"– a jeans insert that gives less-endowed women a backside like Beyonce. It’s kind of like a push-up bra for your butt. [Seriously, Google it.]

I’m a black woman, so this question’s been tossed about for a while.
Frankly, I have no idea. I guess black women don’t get the credit because people don’t want to acknowledge it. There’s still too much bias in society, and people still want to believe the blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman is ideal even though every other attribute that’s desired [full lips, tan skin, curves, large bust] belongs to Black and Hispanic women.

Plain old racial bias. That’s got to be it.

There is no standard of beauty, but if the media mainly expose you to one thing as beautiful, then it’s hard not to.
For most people, it’s natural to be attracted to what looks like you and what you see most, i.e. your kin. SOME people find that they are attracted to what is rare and exotic. The Western media caters to White people because there are the majority in the Western world.
If you had a group of people who grew up on an island with no access to the media and then planted someone of a different race on their island, the majority won’t like it while a few would. I think this would stand for whatever race. Most people like average.
However, because youngsters often have lighter hair, and youth is attractive, blonde hair can be seen by men to be attractive.
Because it’s a woman’s feature to have bigger boobs, bigger ass, bigger lips, longer hair and bigger hips than men, without being at the extreme or ridiculous end, it’s natural for men to like these features to be bigger.
Once upon a time, wealthy women were kept indoors so pale skin was a sign of beauty, but now, it’s more normal to go out in the sun often and if you’re too pale, people will comment that you look ill.
So now it almost seems like a light brown complexion, medium weight, curves, long and lighter hair = the ideal.

The crazy combination of people preferring average or rare, of changing expectations/culture, of different parts of the world having different proportions of races, innate desires for youth and health, of different access to different media, of the fact that preferences change with age, education levels, travel opportunities and a whole load of other things means there is no standard of beauty, except the one that is personal to you.
I myself am an ‘Mr. average’ lover, and in certain places in Britain would be your regular ‘tall, dark and handsome’ lover, but I come from multicultural London and luckily for me, this means I have no preference and see beauty everywhere! Woohoo!

Tanning has nothing at ALL to do with wanting to be Black, that literally makes me laugh every time I hear it. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of hot Black girls, but get a grip, stop reaching. Tanning makes people tan. If it made people look Black, people would call it Blacking, not Tanning. White girls with a tan NEVER EVER EVER look Black, NEVER, EVER, NEVER. They still look White… and most White girls who tan don’t even get that much color, they usually don’t want to even be too dark, they just like enough color to make it look like she hasn’t been hiding indoors all summer long. Seriously.
And I don’t think that blond hair and blue eyes is a standard of beauty either, but I guess that’s your opinion? I think the standard for beauty is long hair, a curvaceous yet slender body, and a nice mouth/lips/teeth. Neither one of those is racially exclusive.
Also, all women get fake boob and butt implants… Black women are the ones who get butt implants the most, because they are the ones in competition for the biggest butt, if they follow hip hop culture. Bigger butts still aren’t all that popular amongst White folks. And no race has the market cornered on fake titties… you all do it.
Black women should get credit for being themselves, and so should White women.

Blonde hair and blue eyes is nothing special anymore. The real "white beauty" standard is blonde hair and green eyes (thats rare-ish)

black women have a lot of natural features that are desired by many, but there is NO certain race of female that is the standard of beauty. Truth be told, its the mixed chicks that do it for me.
