I took senior pictures for a friend. I’m fairly versed in Photoshop, and understand the tools just can’t get exactly what I want.
The kid dyed his hair grayish white for an anime convention, and his grandma is freaking out that his hair isn’t brown in his senior pictures so they’ve asked me to fix them.
I’ve used a mask and adjusted color ranges (http://www.onlyphotoshop.com/tutorial/change-hair-color/20/) and tried adjusting the hue & saturation, as well as used the color replacement tool, but no matter what I do I can’t get a good color, it just turns darker gray or reddish instead of a natural looking brown.
I don’t have another photo of him, nor can I get one because his hair is still whitish and he plans to continue dying it that or I’d try to clone stamp "good" hair from another photo. Old photos of him are not high enough resolution to use for this purpose.
Any suggestions or links to tutorials to change the color would be appreciated.
